The Stroke is a unique project that showcases the synergy between music and visual art. It is the result of a long-standing collaboration between Ill Considered, a jazz quartet from London, and Vincent de Boer, an artist from the Netherlands. Since 2017, de Boer has been creating abstract animations and album covers for Ill Considered, inspired by their mostly improvised compositions. However, for The Stroke, the roles were reversed: de Boer drew a series of ink strokes on paper, and Ill Considered composed music based on his visual cues. The outcome is a stunning fusion of sound and image, where each stroke corresponds to a musical phrase, and each phrase evokes a stroke.
